About the Job:

• You will be a core part of our engineering team to help design, build, and maintain systems necessary to continue Heyzap’s explosive growth. This will be range from building deploy scripts to identifying and destroying scaling bottlenecks.

Responsibilities:

• Debug and solve production problems
• Put in to production monitoring and processes that prevent scaling and production problems before they happen
• Write scripts to monitor and deploy our Rails, Node.js and future applications
• Build tools to monitor and automate our servers on EC2
• Maintain, configure and backup our data stores on Mysql, MongoDB and Redis
• Troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, applications and network

• Maintain and keep updated our production Linux (Ubuntu) systems across >20 servers
• Work on mobile infrastructure systems including push notifications, and other types of messaging
• Continuously communicate with the team to understand existing and new application needs and how they impact the operations

• Excellent problem-solving expertise and attention to detail
• At least 3 years of system administration or development operations (Linux or Unix)
• Some understanding of networking hardware, software, and protocols
• Proficiency in one or more dynamic programming language such as Perl, Python or Ruby
• Team player - ability to work cooperatively with the other engineers
• Hands-on. Completes task quickly and thoroughly
• Enjoys keeping computer spinners at optimum RPM :)

• Experience with Amazon’s EC2, S3 and other AWS products
• Experience building fault tolerant, scalable systems
• Experience with Mysql, Mongodb, Redis and other data stores.
• Familiarity with Git or other version control system
• Experience with cron, load-balancing, iptables
